Lakhimpur: Contrary to the allegations made by opposition parties that India has lost land to China during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure, Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that China could not encroach a single inch of land under the Modi government.

Addressing an election rally in Assam’s Lakhimpur on Tuesday, Shah said the people of Assam never forget how then-Prime Minister Nehru had not come to the rescue of the Assamese people during the Chinese aggression in 1962.

Under PM Modi’s tenure, China couldn’t encroach even one inch of our land. He said the people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh can never forget those days. Shah also said that the central government led by the BJP has secured the country’s border with Bangladesh and stopped infiltration.

Earlier this year, Shah had asserted the Centre’s stand that India has “not lost out on any territory” in the months-long military standoff with China in eastern Ladakh. The Home Minister said PM Modi’s 10 years of ruling have transformed Assam, and development works have picked up pace. He assured the voters that in the coming years, Assam will be a developed state.

Voting for Lakhimpur will take place on April 19, and the hilly state will be voting in three phases on April 26 and May 7.
