An 82-year-old street vendor from Mumbai has captured the internet’s attention, proving that age is no barrier to dignity, purpose and honest work. A viral video shows the elderly man selling ready-to-eat snacks such as farsan, chivda and chakli on a busy street in Borivali, calmly managing his small business with pride and fairness.
A small business built on equality
In the video, the man explains in Hindi that he works with three women who prepare the snacks, while he handles sales. “There are four of us. Whatever profit we earn, we divide it equally. No one gets less, no one gets more,” he says, highlighting a rare model of shared earnings and mutual respect.
He has been running the business since the COVID-19 pandemic, after retiring from a regular service job. Despite his age, he maintains a disciplined routine, keeping a small notepad to record sales, stock and profits so that everything is calculated transparently.
‘Chalta hai, koi baat nahi’
Asked about working even after retirement, the elderly vendor responds with quiet humility: “Chalta hai, koi baat nahi.” His calm outlook on life and work has struck a chord with viewers, many of whom see his efforts not as a hardship, but as a choice rooted in self-respect.
Towards the end of the clip, the content creator filming the video tells him that followers wanted to support his business. The vendor folds his hands politely and asks him to buy whatever he likes. The creator responds by purchasing everything on the stall, drawing a warm smile and heartfelt thanks from the elderly man.
Internet reacts with admiration
The video, shared on X and Instagram, drew widespread praise. Users lauded the man for living with dignity, pointing out that work in old age should be seen with pride, not pity.
Many commenters urged people in the area to visit Borivali’s Sai Baba Nagar and support the vendor, turning a simple street-side business into a powerful reminder that purpose, fairness and self-worth have no age limit.
