Early Saturday morning at around 5 AM, a serious road accident occurred at Mundur in Thrissur district involving two state-run buses. A Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus heading to Guruvayoor collided with the rear of a Karnataka state transport bus.
Among the injured was the KSRTC driver, who sustained critical injuries and is now under close medical observation. Several passengers suffered varying degrees of trauma and were quickly rushed to Amala Hospital for treatment. Emergency teams and local police responded swiftly to the scene to assist with evacuation and care.
Authorities have launched a thorough probe into the incident, exploring factors like poor visibility and potential speeding. Surveillance footage is under review, and passenger statements are being collected to uncover the accident’s cause.
This accident comes shortly after another road tragedy involving Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko’s family. Earlier this week, their car collided with a lorry on the Dharmapuri highway near Palacode, claiming the life of Shine’s father, 70-year-old Sibi Chacko. Shine and his mother were injured and are currently hospitalized at Dharmapuri Government Medical College Hospital.
