At a time when stories of honesty often feel rare, an auto driver in Hyderabad has won hearts after returning a bag containing Rs 1.20 lakh that was accidentally left behind by a passenger travelling to a hospital.

The money reportedly belonged to Sai Kumar and was meant for the medical treatment of his ailing father at KIMS Hospital.

Passenger forgets bag during late-night hospital trip

According to reports, Sai Kumar had booked the auto around 2 am on May 18 while travelling to the hospital. During the journey, he accidentally left behind the bag carrying the cash and realised it only later.

Distressed over the loss, he approached the Ramgopalpet police station seeking help.

Driver chooses honesty over greed

Meanwhile, the auto driver, identified as Venkataiah, discovered the bag inside his vehicle after the trip. Instead of keeping the money, he reportedly went directly to the police station and handed over the bag to Station House Officer B Suresh Kumar.

Police later returned the money to Sai Kumar, bringing immense relief to the family during a difficult time.

Honest act earns praise online

The incident has drawn appreciation from many people on social media, with users praising the auto driver’s integrity and humanity. Several users described the act as a reminder that honesty and kindness still exist in society.

Police officials also reportedly felicitated Venkataiah for his honesty and responsible action.
