Ayodhya: Ayodhya is gearing up for one of its most significant religious events this year, as the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has announced that the ceremonial flag hoisting on the shikhara of the Ram Temple will take place on Tuesday, 25 November 2025 — the traditional sacred day of Lord Ram’s wedding, celebrated as Vivah Panchami. The event is expected to draw massive crowds, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to attend the ceremony.
General Secretary of the Trust, Champat Rai, confirmed the details, emphasising the cultural, historical and spiritual value attached to the occasion. “Tuesday, November 25, 2025, marks the traditional sacred day of Lord Ram’s wedding in Ayodhya. On this day, the flag hoisting will take place on the shikhara of the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The event will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
Preparations for massive public participation
Rai added that the administration is fully prepared to handle the large footfall expected for the festival. Security arrangements, crowd management plans and transportation mechanisms have been designed to ensure smooth movement throughout the city. Authorities are also coordinating with various agencies to avoid congestion and ensure that devotees can witness the celebrations without inconvenience.
Speaking on the schedule, he said, “The VIPs, including the Prime Minister, are likely to depart from Ayodhya district around 2 PM or slightly earlier. The administration and all of us are aware of the significance of this festival and its busy schedule. This will not cause any inconvenience to the public. This is part of our logistical and ceremonial preparations.”
Temple officials noted that this year’s festivities will be “even more magnificent” than previous celebrations. Weeks of preparation are underway to transform Ayodhya into a vibrant spiritual and cultural centre for devotees arriving from across the country.
Temples to be decorated for grand celebration
Beyond the main sanctum of the Ram Temple, all subsidiary shrines dedicated to deities such as Lord Mahadev, Lord Ganesh, Lord Hanuman, Suryadev, Maa Bhagwati, Maa Annapurna and Sheshavatar will be richly decorated. Floral arrangements, lighting installations and traditional motifs will illuminate the temple complex, creating a visually stunning environment for the ceremony.
The rituals will be conducted under the guidance of renowned Kashi scholar Ganeshwar Shastri. A total of 108 Acharyas from Ayodhya, Kashi and South India will lead the ceremony, ensuring that each step aligns with traditional customs and Vedic prescriptions. The saffron flag to be hoisted features the Sun — a symbol representing eternal energy, divine radiance, virtue and enlightenment, qualities deeply associated with Lord Ram.
Construction progress and technical preparations
Earlier this week, Ram Temple Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Mishra briefed the media about ongoing preparations. He said the focus has been on ensuring that the Prime Minister’s visit proceeds efficiently and that he is able to undertake a complete tour of the temple premises. The plan will be finalised in consultation with the Prime Minister’s Office.
Mishra confirmed that the bulk of the temple construction is complete. “Most of the work is completed. Now attention is being paid to the beautification of the temple premises, including the plantations,” he said. The main structure and six subsidiary shrines have already been finished, marking a significant milestone toward the final phase of the project.
On the technical aspects of the flag-hoisting, Mishra said that experts are examining all requirements carefully. “We want the flag to be hoisted atop the temple’s main spire, and for that, certain technical requirements are being examined. Experts from the Defence Ministry, who specialise in such work, are assisting to ensure that the ceremony on November 25 goes smoothly without any issues,” he explained.
Cultural and spiritual significance
Vivah Panchami is celebrated with great enthusiasm in Ayodhya, symbolising the divine union of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita. With the Ram Temple now standing as a national symbol of heritage and devotion, this year’s celebration carries even greater significance. The flag-hoisting ceremony is expected to be a centrepiece of the festivities, reflecting Ayodhya’s renewed spiritual prominence.
Conclusion
As Ayodhya prepares for the grand flag-hoisting ceremony on 25 November, anticipation is building across the country. With Prime Minister Modi scheduled to attend, extensive preparations underway, and a deeply rooted cultural backdrop, the event promises to be a historic moment for devotees and for the Ram Temple’s evolving legacy.
