LUCKNOW: The first floor of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, featuring a majestic Ram Darbar, will be opened to devotees on June 6, following a ceremonial puja on June 5, temple trust officials confirmed. This event will follow the formal installation of 18 idols on May 23, aligned with auspicious planetary timings.
Temple Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Mishra told TOI that both May 23 and June 5 hold significant astrological importance. The three-day Pran Pratishtha (idol consecration) will include sacred rituals like Jalavas, Annavas, Aushadhivas, and Shayyavas.
This phase marks a major addition after the 2024 consecration of the child form of Ram Lalla, which was presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now, the five-foot marble idol of Raja Ram, carved in Jaipur, will be installed, accompanied by idols of Sita, Lakshman, Bharat, Shatrughan, and Hanuman.
According to Champat Rai, temple trust general secretary, the idols will start arriving from April 15 and be carefully placed at their designated locations. Engineering giant Larsen & Toubro is overseeing the installation process.
Additionally, seven more temples on the premises will be completed before June 6. On Akshaya Tritiya (April 30), the Ram Darbar will be ceremoniously positioned in the sanctum sanctorum.
The entire temple complex is scheduled for completion by October 2025.
