Film-maker and author Tahira Kashyap, who is married to actor Ayushmann Khurrana, revealed on Monday that her breast cancer has returned. Having bravely battled the disease after her 2019 diagnosis and undergoing a mastectomy, Tahira is stepping into round two with the same courage. She shared the update with optimism, writing, “Seven-year itch or the power of regular screening — I’d like to go with the latter. Round 2 for me… I still got this.”
Ayushmann responded to her post with a simple yet powerful tribute: “My hero.” His message celebrated her unwavering strength and spirit.
In a candid throwback, Ayushmann had once spoken about the emotional turmoil he experienced when they first learned of her diagnosis. On Tahira’s podcast ‘My Ex-Breast’, he revealed, “I was hiding behind a pillar at the hospital. I felt helpless. We were in Delhi when the doctor told us. It was a moment of deep vulnerability for both of us.”
Despite his inner turmoil, Ayushmann expressed how Tahira’s resilience lifted him. “She became stronger than me. Her presence comes from her chanting, her journey, her life experiences — it’s not just her looks or style. She’s truly inspiring.”
Tahira and Ayushmann, who were high school sweethearts before tying the knot, share two children. Their bond continues to be a beacon of strength, love, and resilience in the face of adversity.
