Uttar Pradesh, Aug 23 : A tragic accident at Awadh Academy School in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, resulted in 40 children being injured, with four in critical condition, following the collapse of a balcony on Thursday.

The accident occurred during the morning assembly when several children gathered on a balcony with reportedly weak foundations. The weight of the gathering caused the balcony to give way, leading to the collapse. The local police and a crowd of concerned residents quickly arrived at the scene as news of the incident spread through the town.

Barabanki Superintendent of Police Dinesh Singh explained that the collapse happened as the children were moving from the assembly area and onto the balcony. “The balcony’s foundation must have been weak, which is why it collapsed,” Singh stated.

The injured children were promptly taken to the trauma center of the district hospital. Emergency responders and medical staff are working to provide necessary treatment to the victims. As of now, four children are reported to be in critical condition, while the others are receiving care for various injuries.

The incident has elicited a strong response from both the local community and authorities. Efforts are underway to assess the structural integrity of the school and determine the cause of the balcony’s failure. The local police are investigating the incident, and school officials are cooperating with the inquiry to ensure accountability and prevent future tragedies.

The community is in shock, with many expressing concerns over the safety and maintenance of school infrastructure. The tragic event has highlighted the need for rigorous checks on school buildings to ensure the safety of students and staff.
