Kochi: Karma struck once again when the youth who was sacked from his job at Kotak Mahindra Bank for his insensitive and provocative comments about the Kathua gang rape and murder victim, was booked on April 14 by the Kerala police.

Vishnu Nandakumar, the former assistant manager of the bank, was booked under section 153 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for promoting feelings of enmity, hatred, ill-will or disharmony between different groups on the basis of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.

As Vishnu had deleted his Facebook account soon after his derogatory statement incited the netizens’ ire, it is unclear as to when it was posted. His comments however, were widely shared which led to attacks on Kotak Mahindra Bank on various social media platforms.

Following the barrage of attacks on the bank and demands for Vishnu to be sacked, the bank was forced to take action against him and terminated his employment for “poor performance.” In a statement released on Twitter, the bank spokesperson said, “It is extremely disheartening to see such comments being made in the aftermath of such tragedy by anyone including an ex-employee. We strongly condemn this statement”, bank spokesperson Rohit Rao said and added that Nandakumar was “terminated from the services of the bank on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 for poor performance.”
