A 31-year-old man identified as Muvadd, a resident of Chullikkal, Mattancherry, has been arrested for violently assaulting a bar employee at Alankar Bar in Chakkamadom, Mattancherry, on Sunday night.

The incident unfolded after an argument erupted when the staff insisted that payment be made before serving alcohol. Enraged by the refusal, Muvadd forced open the bar counter door, barged inside, and launched a brutal assault on the staffer.

According to police, the accused punched the victim, dragged him to the floor, kicked him repeatedly, and smashed a beer bottle on his head. The violence escalated further when Muvadd stabbed the employee in the chest using the shattered bottle.

The victim, who suffered serious injuries, was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Mattancherry police promptly registered a case and arrested the accused from near his residence.

Authorities revealed that Muvadd is a repeat offender with multiple cases lodged against him in the past. He was presented in court and has since been remanded to judicial custody.

This disturbing act has once again raised concerns about bar security and the presence of known offenders in public spaces.
