Bihar– A disturbing video from a government-run hospital in Katihar has gone viral, showing a doctor allegedly abusing and threatening a female patient. The footage reveals the doctor shouting aggressively and even warning the woman that he would hit her with his shoe if she didn’t remain silent.
The doctor, identified as Dr. Sushant, was caught on camera yelling and intimidating the woman inside the hospital premises. In the clip, he is heard saying, “Chup raho, nahi toh muh par itna joota marenge.” He also reportedly threatened to jail her and her husband during the confrontation.
The woman, a resident of Soria village in Dandkhora block, had come to the hospital seeking treatment for multiple injuries sustained during a local dispute. She claimed the doctor ordered an X-ray for only one injury, disregarding other visible wounds. When she requested further medical attention, the doctor allegedly lost his temper.
According to the patient’s account, her husband began recording the incident on his phone after the situation escalated. In his defense, Dr. Sushant claimed that the woman had verbally abused him first, prompting his aggressive response. However, social media users and locals have strongly criticized his behavior, asserting that medical professionals must maintain composure and respect—especially toward rural or marginalized patients.
Despite the viral video, no official action has yet been taken. The incident has reignited concerns about the treatment of patients in public hospitals and the need for reforms in healthcare conduct.
