Patna: After being shot at by the liquor mafia five days ago in the Shadipur area of Bihar, a trader passed away on Saturday from his wounds.

Sanjay Ram, the victim’s name, owned an electronics store. On November 13, after Ram had protested against the liquor sale in Shadipur, he was shot at by the liquor mafia.

After being brought to Paras Hospital in Patna after being admitted to Sadar Hospital in Munger, the victim passed away from his wounds there.

After he passed away, the body was brought to Munger and given to the local police so they could perform a postmortem.

According to the deceased’s family, liquor dealer Vicky Kumar, who had shot at and seriously injured Sanjay Ram, has not been apprehended by the district police.

“We demand the accused’s immediate arrest. He was not arrested by district police in a previous case that was similar to this one. The deceased man’s father, Surendra Ram, stated, “My son would still be alive if he had been arrested sooner.”

Soon after the news of Ram’s spread, his relatives and neighbours attacked the house of the accused and pelted stones. They have also blocked Pipalpanti road for around two hours.

The District SP Jaggunath Reddy sent forces to tackle the situation. “Since the situation was tense, we managed to calm down the agitating people. We have constituted a team to nab the accused. Raids are currently underway,” the officials said.
