New Delhi: After 21 years of marriage, BJP legislator and Rajasthan Royal Diya Kumari has filed for divorce from her husband Narendra Singh, under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act, at Gandhi Nagar’s family court.
In a joint statement on Sunday, Diya Kumari and Narendra Singh said, “We jointly state that it is an extremely personal matter for us and hence we do not wish to comment further except, that we have jointly and mutually decided to part amicably.”
Singh, hails from modest family, and had married Kumari in August 1997 after nine years of dating. The couple belong to the same ‘gotra’, and this had created animosity among the royals and the Rajput community.
The couple has a daughter and two sons.
She entered politics in 2013 and won her maiden assembly election as BJP candidate in 2013 from Sawai Madhopur seat.
