Thiruvananthapuram: If sources are to be believed then renowned Malayalam actor Mohanlal is BJP’s choice to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from Thiruvananthapuram.
If this happens, then Mohan Lal will take on Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.
Neither the BJP nor the actor has said anything about this, but Mohanlal met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday, following which PM Modi praised Mohanlal’s humility and social service initiatives.
Meanwhile, Mohanlal too tweeted about meeting PM Modi and said that he spoke to the PM about social initiatives taken up by him through his ‘ViswaSandhi’ foundation.
Mohan also informed that the PM has assured support and offered to participate in the Global Malayalee Roundtable.
Mohanlal, who has acted in over 300 films has been awarded five National Film Awards and was conferred the Padma Shri — India’s fourth highest civilian honour — in 2001. Thiruvananthapuram is Mohanlal’s paternal home.
