Three people were injured in an explosion on Monday morning during the demolition of an old mosque in Kasheri, Handwara in North Kashmir. The blast occurred unexpectedly as locals were tearing down the structure to build a new one.
The injured have been identified as:
- Mudasir Ahmad Mir of Nutnoosa
- Ghulam Ahmad Tantray of Kachri
- Owais Ahmad of Hadipora
All three were rushed to a nearby hospital and are said to be in stable condition.
Soon after the explosion, security forces arrived and cordoned off the area. The police have launched an investigation to ascertain the cause and nature of the blast.
The Superintendent of Police, Handwara, confirmed that the matter is under active investigation.
