A Blinkit delivery agent has gone viral on social media after helping rescue two friends who were accidentally locked out on their apartment balcony in Pune in the early hours of the morning.

The unusual late-night rescue took place around 3 am and was captured in a video shared on Instagram by digital creator Mihir Gahukar. The clip has since garnered over 4 million views and more than 1.35 lakh likes, drawing widespread amusement online.

Friends locked out while parents slept inside

According to the video, the two friends stepped out onto their home balcony, only to later realise that the door had locked from inside. With their parents sleeping peacefully inside the house and not wanting to cause panic by waking them, the duo decided to think creatively.

Their solution was to place an order on the quick-delivery app Blinkit and request the delivery agent to help unlock the balcony door from inside the house.

Delivery agent steps in hesitantly

The video shows the Blinkit delivery agent arriving at the apartment and hesitantly following the friends’ instructions. One of the friends can be heard explaining their predicament in a humorous narration, telling the agent that both of them are stuck outside on the balcony.

After entering the house carefully, the delivery agent successfully opened the locked door, helping the friends return inside safely — all without waking their parents.

Social media amused by midnight rescue

The clip quickly struck a chord with social media users, many of whom praised the delivery agent’s calm response while also finding humour in the situation.

“Imagine your parents waking up to see a Blinkit agent inside the house,” one user commented. Another wrote, “Blinkit is no longer just delivering groceries, it’s delivering emotions.”

The video was shared on January 5 with the caption loosely translated as “The year’s first scandal”, adding to its comic appeal.

Beyond deliveries

While the incident was light-hearted, it also highlighted how delivery personnel often go beyond their call of duty in unexpected situations. The Blinkit agent’s willingness to help at an odd hour has earned him appreciation across platforms.

The company has not yet issued an official statement on the viral clip, but the moment has added another chapter to the growing list of human-interest stories emerging from India’s quick-commerce ecosystem.
