Mumbai: While the election results of the BMC termed as the country’s richest municipal corporation is eagerly awaited by both BJP and Shiv Sena, the illegal betting mafia too would be keeping a close watch on the outcome with nearly Rs 3,000 Crore having been put on stake for this election.
The results of the BMC polls will be announced on Thursday and several exit polls have claimed a close battle between BJP and Shiv Sena. As per a latest exit poll, BJP is predicted to get around 80-88 seats, while Shiv Sena around 86-92 seats.
However, Shiv Sena remains a clear favourite amongst the bookies with highest bets placed on the party to win the civic elections.
Both Shiv sena and BJP have claimed a victory for themselves after a record 56 percent voter turnout was witnessed yesterday.
Interestingly, the Raj Thackeray-led MNS has not figured anywhere in the betting list.
