A fatal explosion at an animal fat processing plant in Ernakulam’s Edayar industrial area on the night of October 5 claimed the life of migrant worker Vikram Pradhan from Odisha and left two others injured. The blast, caused by a mini boiler, occurred at the Formal Trade Links LLP facility. The injured, identified as Krishnan and Guru, both migrant workers, are being treated at the Government Medical College in Kalamassery and are reported to be in stable condition.

The Edayar Industrial Estate, a key industrial hub in Kerala, houses various factories, including chemical and polymer units. Following the incident, Industries Minister P Rajeev has requested an investigation and promised action if any negligence is found.
