On the night of May 6, 2025, an IndiGo flight traveling from Chandigarh to Mumbai received a bomb threat after an anonymous call was made to the Sahar airport hotline in Mumbai. The flight, however, landed safely at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, where security officials immediately conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft. Mumbai Police later confirmed that no suspicious items or explosives were found on board, and the threat was deemed a false alarm.

This incident follows a similar scare last month when another IndiGo flight, from Jaipur to Mumbai, was forced to make an emergency landing due to a bomb alert, which also turned out to be a hoax.

In the midst of this, IndiGo’s domestic operations are facing significant disruptions, with about 160 flights canceled. This disruption is compounded by heightened security measures, especially following the recent missile strikes carried out by the Indian armed forces on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of Operation Sindoor.

While the details surrounding the missile strikes remain under wraps, the bomb threat scare and the ongoing security concerns have raised alarm within the aviation sector.
