Bomb threat sparks panic at Vidya Soudha institutions; turns out to be hoax
A bomb threat targeting the Vidya Soudha Group of Educational Institutions in Bengaluru triggered panic and heightened security on Monday, with three campuses in the city placed on high alert.
The threat came via an email received on Sunday morning, warning that explosives would be detonated at 1 PM on Monday in institutions owned by Manjegowda. In response, the school management at Vidya Soudha Public School (Vijayanagar), Vidya Soudha Kids (Industrial Area), and Vidya Soudha College (KR Puram) reported the threat to police.
Bomb detection and disposal squads, accompanied by sniffer dogs, carried out thorough searches at the institutions, including their Hassan campuses, by Sunday evening. The inspections revealed no explosives, and police have confirmed it was a hoax.
Despite no explosives being found, the threatening email caused considerable anxiety among staff and parents. The school principal filed official complaints with the Hassan city and rural police stations. Police teams acted promptly, sweeping the premises late into Sunday night.
Authorities have begun an investigation to trace the sender of the threatening email. While no arrests have been made yet, the police have assured that all efforts are underway to locate the origin of the cyber threat and ensure student safety.
