More than 20 schools across Delhi received bomb threats via email on Friday, prompting mass evacuations and a swift multi-agency emergency response. The Delhi Fire Service confirmed that schools including Abhinav Public School in Rohini Sector 3 and Richmondd Global School in Paschim Vihar were among the institutions targeted.
According to officials, threatening emails were received early in the day, warning of explosives placed on school premises. Authorities immediately activated emergency protocols, dispatching teams from the Delhi Police, Bomb Disposal Squad, and the Fire Department to each location.
Both schools were swiftly evacuated as a precautionary measure. Extensive searches were carried out by bomb detection units, while fire safety personnel remained on standby to handle any potential fallout. “Richmondd Global School in Paschim Vihar area received a bomb threat. Fire and police teams were promptly deployed and are on-site,” said a spokesperson from the Delhi Fire Service.
By noon, security personnel had completed sweeps in several of the affected schools, though no explosive materials were found at the time of reporting. Investigations are ongoing to trace the origin of the emails and determine whether the threats were part of a coordinated hoax or a larger security concern.
Parents were urged to stay calm as safety protocols remained in place and classes were suspended for the day in the impacted schools.
