An Indian-origin couple from Canada, Vicky and Piya, experienced a nightmare on their wedding day when a colour bomb, intended to create a vibrant background for their photo shoot, malfunctioned and injured the bride. The couple, who had travelled from Canada to Bengaluru to celebrate their special day, shared their distressing experience to raise awareness about firework safety at weddings.

The couple had planned for a stunning shot with colour bombs exploding in the background, but the device veered off course and struck Piya directly. As a result, she sustained significant injuries, including a large burn on her back and singed hair. The incident occurred just as the groom was lifting his bride for the photograph, turning their dream wedding moment into a disaster.

“We are trying to spread awareness of safety with firecrackers at weddings,” Vicky and Piya shared on social media. In a video posted on Instagram, the couple revealed the extent of the injuries, which required hospital treatment.

This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers posed by firecrackers and similar devices, which are often used during wedding celebrations. The couple urged others to be cautious and think about safety when incorporating such props into celebrations.

Their story joins a growing list of firework-related accidents at weddings. In another case last year, a man shooting firecrackers from a car in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur led to a car catching fire.
