In a bizarre and emotionally shattering turn of events, a bride-to-be from a village under Madrak Police Station in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, was left devastated after her mother allegedly eloped with her fiancé—just 10 days before the wedding.

Shivani, the bride-to-be, revealed that her mother, Anita, ran away with Rahul, the man she was supposed to marry on April 16. Adding to the shock, Anita allegedly took along ₹3.5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth ₹5 lakh from their home. “She didn’t even leave behind ₹10. My mother took everything,” Shivani said.

Shivani’s father, Jitendra Kumar, a businessman based in Bengaluru, said he had suspected an inappropriate relationship between his wife and his future son-in-law, as they often spoke on the phone for hours daily. “I heard they would talk for nearly 22 hours a day, but I stayed quiet thinking the wedding was near,” he shared.

After Anita disappeared on April 6, both her and Rahul’s phones were switched off. When contacted initially, Rahul denied being with Anita, but later accused Mr. Kumar of mistreating his wife for 20 years and told him to move on.

A missing person’s report has been filed, and Madrak police have begun an investigation. Authorities have assured that they are actively working to trace the pair and recover the stolen valuables.
