Kondagattu: In a major accident, 43 persons are reported killed and over 20 injured in the Kondagattu Ghat section of the Jagtial district.
The incident took place at 12 midnight, wherein the bus fell into a deep trench.
Among the deceased 25 are women and 7 are children. About 8 of them are in critical condition and are admitted to a private hospital. Both the legs of the bus driver have broken and a stream of blood was witnessed on the spot.
The injured are admitted to Karimnagar and Jagtial hospitals. Police and the residents together have carried out the rescue operations.
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has ordered for a probe and has sanctioned Rs 5 Lakh each to the families of the deceased.
A Hanuman temple in Kondagattu is a popular pilgrimage spot, to which a large number of devotees visit on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The unfortunate victims too were on this pilgrimage.
