A businessman was robbed of 4 kilograms of gold jewellery in north Delhi’s Gulabi Bagh area shortly after stepping out of an autorickshaw on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. The victim, identified as Kashinath Dolaai, a resident of Karol Bagh, was carrying the jewellery in three bags when the incident occurred, police reported on Saturday.
According to the police, Kashinath Dolaai and his friend were disembarking from an autorickshaw near Subzi Mandi Railway Station and paying the fare when two men on a two-wheeler approached them. In a swift move, the robbers snatched the bags containing the gold ornaments and fled the scene before the victims could react.
Dolaai immediately reported the crime to the police, leading to the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) . The police have formed multiple teams to investigate the case and nab the culprits. They are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the robbers.
The incident highlights the growing concern over public safety in the national capital, particularly in crowded areas like railway stations, where criminals often take advantage of the chaos to target unsuspecting individuals.
The police are urging witnesses to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying the assailants and recovering the stolen jewellery.
