Sabarimala: Though the Sri Lankan woman refuted claims of her having entered the Sabarimala shrine after climbing the 18 holy steps, police released a CCTV visual, which clearly shows the woman and her husband inside the shrine. However, it is not clear if she climbed the 18 holy steps or the “pathinettampadi” to reach the sanctum sanctorum.
It was on Friday that news broke about the 47-year-old Sri Lankan woman Sasikala entering the temple, making her the first woman to enter the sanctum through the 18 holy steps. However, she denies the claim and said she was sent away by the police and that she could not offer prayers.
Her entry hit headlines because, Bindu (42) and Kanakadurga (44), who entered the temple on January 2 took an alternative route, skipping the 18 steps.
Police sources have said that the woman may have refuted the claim out of fear for her life.
