CCTV visuals have emerged in connection with the gang rape of a 28-year-old woman in Faridabad, shedding light on the movements of the van in which the crime allegedly took place. The woman was reportedly assaulted for over two hours before being thrown onto the road in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to police, the incident occurred on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday when the woman was waiting for a vehicle to return home late at night. Two men allegedly lured her into their van, promising to drop her safely at her residence.
Woman assaulted for over two hours, say police
Investigators said the woman remained inside the van for nearly two-and-a-half hours, during which the accused allegedly raped her repeatedly. Around 3 am, she was thrown out of the moving vehicle, resulting in serious facial injuries and heavy bleeding.
CCTV footage shows the van moving along a road while other vehicles are seen parked nearby. Police are examining the footage to trace the route taken by the accused and identify any additional evidence.
Victim hospitalised, condition stable
The woman was rushed to hospital by her family, where doctors administered 10 to 12 stitches on her face. While her condition is reported to be stable, police said she remains in a state of shock and her detailed statement is yet to be recorded.
In her complaint, the victim’s sister stated that the woman had called her around 8.30 pm the previous evening, saying she had argued with their mother and was going to a friend’s house. She had told her sister that she would return home within three hours.
Background and arrests
Police said the woman is married, has three children, and lives separately from her husband due to an ongoing domestic dispute.
Both accused have been arrested, and the van seen in the CCTV footage has been recovered. Officials said further investigation is underway to reconstruct the sequence of events and strengthen the case.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns about women’s safety during late-night travel and the need for stronger preventive measures.
