CHANNAPATNA: A daring attempt to snatch a woman’s chain was thwarted on Tuesday evening at the Channapatna bus stand, thanks to the swift action of an observant young man.
The incident occurred when the woman, who was carrying her child and trying to board a bus, was suddenly attacked from behind by a chain-snatcher. The miscreant attempted to yank the chain off her neck, causing minor injuries.
However, before he could escape, a vigilant youth at the scene quickly intervened and apprehended the man. Other bystanders soon joined in and thrashed the accused before handing him over to the police.
The woman received minor treatment for neck abrasions.
A case has been registered at the Extension Police Station, and investigations are underway.
