A viral video has led to the suspension of Constable Ajay Kundu from the Chandigarh Police after his wife, Jyoti, was seen dancing on a zebra crossing, causing a traffic jam at Sector-20 Gurdwara Chowk. The incident, recorded by her sister-in-law Pooja, occurred on March 20 at 4:30 pm and quickly gained traction on social media.

Police Action and FIR

Following the video’s circulation, Head Constable Jasbir filed a complaint at Sector 34 police station. The police launched an inquiry, reviewing CCTV footage from nearby cameras. An FIR was registered against Jyoti and Pooja under Sections 125, 292, and 3(5) of BNS for disrupting traffic and public safety violations. Both women were later granted bail.

Public Reaction and Debate

Constable Kundu was suspended from his post at Sector 19 police station since the video was uploaded from his Instagram account, sparking mixed reactions. Many questioned if he should be punished for his wife’s independent actions.

One social media user wrote, “Suspension is unfair. She was just entertaining people.” Another remarked, “Reel addiction is getting out of control—people need better things to do.”

The incident has reignited discussions on social media responsibility and legal accountability.
