In a shocking turn of events, a child trafficking network operating out of the New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) was exposed after the police tracked down the individuals responsible for abducting children. The case came to light on October 17, when a woman reported her two-and-a-half-year-old child had gone missing from the station. Little did the authorities know, this would uncover a sophisticated network trafficking children.
The gang, as police later discovered, was kidnapping children who were asleep at the station in the early hours, only to be handed over to unsuspecting foster families. The breakthrough came after police analyzed CCTV footage from the night of October 16, showing a woman picking up the child and boarding an auto-rickshaw. The auto driver later led police to the Faridabad-Badarpur border.
On January 21, a similar case emerged when a four-month-old infant was abducted from the Food Court Waiting Hall at NDLS. The pattern raised suspicion that a well-organized trafficking network was at play. Police used an extensive network of 700 CCTV cameras, telecom data, and painstaking efforts to track down the perpetrators.
The prime suspects, Arti and Suraj, were arrested on February 2 in Faridabad. Suraj played a significant role in coordinating with traffickers and ensuring smooth transactions. Further investigation revealed that a clerk, Nirmala, and a nurse, Kanta, were also involved in facilitating illegal adoptions by creating forged documents and misrepresenting kidnapped children as abandoned.
Authorities continue to uncover the intricate details of this child trafficking operation, ensuring justice for the victims.
