Last week, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar revealed that 75% of disengagement issues with China have been resolved, though challenges remain. However, new satellite imagery suggests China is bolstering its military presence near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) by constructing a large heliport just 20 kilometers east of the LAC in Arunachal Pradesh.
The heliport, near the ‘Fishtails’ sector in Arunachal, will enhance China’s intelligence, surveillance, and troop mobilization capabilities. The construction features a 600-meter runway and multiple hangars, serving both military and civilian purposes.
India, while not officially responding to the heliport, is fortifying its border through projects like the ‘Vibrant Villages’ initiative and new road networks to counter Chinese advances.
