A chocolate manufacturing and repacking unit in Hyderabad’s Old Mallepally area was raided by food safety officials, who alleged multiple violations of food safety and labelling regulations.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Hyderabad Food Adulteration and Safety Team (H-FAST), the Food Safety Department and Habeebnagar police on June 4.
Owner booked after inspection
Officials identified the unit as Vignette Food Specialities Pvt. Ltd., located at Seetarambagh in Old Mallepally. The establishment was allegedly being operated by Konda Karthik.
During the inspection, authorities claimed that the unit was involved in manufacturing, repacking and marketing chocolate products without adhering to mandatory food safety norms and regulatory requirements.
Based on the findings, a case was registered against the owner for alleged violations under food safety regulations.
Alleged lapses in compliance
According to officials, the unit failed to comply with prescribed food safety standards and labelling requirements that are mandatory for food products sold to consumers.
Food safety authorities said such regulations are intended to ensure transparency regarding ingredients, manufacturing details, expiry dates and other essential consumer information.
The inspection forms part of ongoing efforts by enforcement agencies to monitor food manufacturing units and prevent the sale of products that do not meet regulatory standards.
Investigation underway
Authorities have initiated further investigation into the matter and are examining the extent of the alleged violations.
Officials stated that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the inquiry and any laboratory analysis conducted on the products seized during the raid.
The Food Safety Department has also urged food manufacturers and distributors to strictly comply with food safety laws to safeguard consumer health.
