A Class 10 student of Sri Aurobindo Integral Education Centre in Odisha’s Ganjam district died after reportedly falling unconscious at his hostel on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Mihir Pradhan, son of Santosh Pradhan of Bagalpur village under Khallikote police limits. Mihir had been staying in the school hostel while pursuing his studies.

Collapsed inside hostel premises

According to sources, Mihir suddenly collapsed within the hostel premises during the morning hours. Fellow students and staff members immediately rushed him to the Community Health Centre in Khallikote for treatment.

However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

On receiving information, family members and relatives reached the hospital in distress. Police personnel also arrived at the health centre and initiated an inquiry to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Investigation underway

The incident has left classmates, teachers and residents of the locality in shock. A pall of gloom descended on the hospital premises following the sudden demise of the young student.

Local MLA and the Tehsildar visited the hospital to take stock of the situation and spoke to officials regarding the preliminary findings.

Police said further details would emerge after completion of necessary medical and legal procedures. The exact circumstances leading to the student’s collapse are yet to be confirmed.

Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted to determine whether any underlying medical condition or other factors contributed to the tragic incident.
