A 14-year-old Class 9 student of Puthuppady Government High School in Kozhikode district was brutally attacked by a group of Class 10 students on the school campus on Tuesday. As per a report by Manorama News, around 15 students were involved in the assault.

The student suffered injuries to his head and eyes and is currently undergoing medical treatment. According to Thamarassery police, a Social Background Report (SBR) is being prepared, as all the accused are minors. The police will confirm the names of the students involved only after further investigation.

The victim’s father has alleged serious negligence on the part of school authorities, claiming that teachers delayed hospital care and informed the family nearly an hour after the attack occurred.

Headmaster of the school admitted that the assault was a result of a prior altercation between the groups. He also confirmed that four students have been suspended for two weeks as a disciplinary action.

The incident has raised concerns over student safety, bullying, and the timely response of school staff in handling violent incidents on campus.
