A 12-year-old girl succumbed to dengue while undergoing treatment at the Namakkal Government Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as Lithiya, was the daughter of Arulpandian and Vinvizhi from Reddiputhur Colony at Thuthikulam near Senthamangalam. She was studying in Class VI at Kalapanayakkanpatty Government Girls’ Higher Secondary School.
Admitted to ICU after persistent fever
According to hospital sources, Lithiya had been suffering from fever for the past few days. As her condition worsened, she was admitted to the intensive care unit of the government medical college hospital on Tuesday.
Despite medical intervention and close monitoring, she did not respond to treatment and passed away on Wednesday.
Doctors confirmed that dengue-related complications led to her death.
Grief grips family and school
The news of her demise has left her family, relatives and school community in deep sorrow. Teachers and classmates remembered her as a cheerful and sincere student.
Health officials have reiterated the need for preventive measures against dengue, especially during seasons when mosquito-borne illnesses tend to rise. Authorities have urged residents to eliminate stagnant water around homes and maintain cleanliness to prevent mosquito breeding.
