Kerala: Cleanliness is next to Godliness, the people from God’s Own country have proved this right.
Kongorpilly Govt Higher Secondary School in Koonammavu of Ernakulam district was home for some of the displaced people of the vicinity.
After the rains wrecked their lives, 1200 people were given shelter at the school auditorium on the fourth floor. After the rains subsided and life slowly limped back to normalcy, the people who were put up in the auditorium packed their belongings to head back but, they never forgot to do one thing.
As a token of their appreciation and gratitude, the distressed families cleaned up the auditorium and left it spotless, as an act of paying back.
A picture of the spotless auditorium was posted on Facebook, which was widely shared.
It is said that when one of the displaced women was asked why she was cleaning the place, she said:”This place was home for me for the last four days. How can I leave it dirty?”
The state, which was recently jolted by Nipah Virus, withstood the onslaught of nature’s fury too and in both the times of crisis, the people of Kerala have shown that they are survivors and the state deserves to be called ‘Heroes’ Own country’.
