New Delhi: The Centre tabled the CAG report on Rafale deal in Rajya Sabha, on Wednesday, which was the last day of the Budget session.
The report includes details of the Capital Acquisitions in the Indian Air Force. As per news agency ANI, the CAG report mentions that compared to the 126 aircraft deal, India managed to save 17.08 per cent money for the India Specific Enhancements in the 36 Rafale contract. The report states that the deal sealed by the Modi government worked out cheaper than the deal negotiated by the previous Congress lead UPA Government.
Cong stages stir
Before the proceedings of the day began, Congress leaders including party chief Rahul Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh and others staged a protest with paper flags with Rafale written on them. Paper jets were seen flying at the protest venue to mark their anger against the government.
Rahul alleged that the PM’s argument of better pricing and faster delivery of the jets to defend the deal has been demolished. He also slammed the CAG report and called it ‘Chowkidar Audit General’ Report. It is said that the report doesn’t mention the prices of the jets as the government called it classified information. The Congress had staged a walk out from Lok Sabha on Tuesday when the government rejected its demand for Join Parliament probe into Rafale fighter jet deal.
