Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said the Congress is engaged in a nationwide struggle to protect the Constitution and its values, while opposing attempts to promote communalism.
He made the remarks during the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday.
Chennithala raises concern over constitutional values
Chennithala alleged that attempts were being made in different parts of the country to undermine the Constitution and its foundational principles.
He also accused forces of attempting to inflame communal tensions, saying the Congress would continue to oppose such efforts.
The Minister linked the party’s position to the broader responsibility of protecting the democratic and constitutional framework established after Independence.
