Bajinder Singh, a well-known pastor from Punjab, who gained attention for his viral “Yeshu Yeshu” videos, has been charged with sexual harassment in Jalandhar, authorities confirmed on Sunday. The allegations were made by a victim who has been visiting Singh’s church along with her family since 2017. According to her complaint, Singh started messaging her after obtaining her phone number. Initially, she did not inform her parents out of fear of this self-proclaimed spiritual leader.
The victim further claimed that since 2022, Singh made her sit alone in a church cabin on Sundays, where he allegedly hugged and touched her inappropriately. These accusations have led to charges under Section 354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
Singh, who was born into a Hindu Jat family and converted to Christianity, gained popularity through his church ministry, the Church of Glory and Wisdom, which he founded in 2016. He became a sensation by claiming to heal people through miraculous acts. His ministry’s social media presence has been amplified by his self-proclaimed healing powers, especially through his YouTube channel boasting millions of followers.
However, this is not the first time Singh has faced serious allegations. In 2018, he was booked in a rape case where the victim accused him of assaulting her at his home in Chandigarh. His church was also scrutinized by the Income Tax Department over fraud claims. Despite the charges, many of his followers have defended him, calling the accusations attempts to defame the pastor.
