Controversial Zipline Chant Fuels Suspicion in Pahalgam Terror Attack Investigation
A disturbing video showing Muzammil, the zipline operator, exclaiming “Allahu Akbar” just before the Pahalgam attack on April 22 has sparked significant debate. The footage has led to accusations that Muzammil might have had prior knowledge of the terrorist assault, which tragically claimed 26 lives, including a Nepalese tourist.
Rishi Bhatt, a tourist from Gujarat, who was riding the zipline at the time, recounted that Muzammil uttered “Allahu Akbar” thrice right before the gunfire erupted. He noted that the operator had been silent with previous riders, raising suspicions of possible forewarning. The video, which captured the chaotic aftermath of the gunshots, quickly went viral, drawing widespread attention.
Muzammil’s father responded, emphasizing that the phrase was a common religious expression and that Muslims often use it during difficult times. He expressed that he had not seen the viral clip and defended his son’s actions as a natural part of their faith.
Former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti also stood by Muzammil, condemning the communal accusations and urging the government to act against online hatred. Meanwhile, authorities have summoned witnesses and are investigating whether local elements were involved in the attack.
The government has since taken a hardline stance, revoking Pakistani visas and suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, signaling its commitment to combating terrorism.
