In a shocking incident, two policemen were arrested in Himachal Pradesh for allegedly killing a resort manager and injuring a receptionist during a violent confrontation at a private resort in Banikhet, near Dalhousie, on New Year’s Eve.

The altercation began late on Tuesday night when three policemen arrived at the resort and demanded food and alcohol. The receptionist, Sachin, declined their request due to the late hour and lack of staff, which led to an argument. Enraged, the policemen reportedly began assaulting Sachin.

When Rajinder, the resort’s general manager, intervened to mediate, he was also attacked. During the altercation, Rajinder fell and later succumbed to his injuries. Sachin was seriously injured in the attack as well.

The incident sparked widespread outrage, with locals taking to the streets and blocking the Chamba Pathankot National Highway in protest. The police quickly arrested two of the officers, Anoop and Amit, and charged them with murder. Authorities suspect that the policemen were intoxicated during the incident, which took place amid New Year celebrations.

Chamba’s Superintendent of Police confirmed that the accused constables have been suspended, and a departmental inquiry is underway.
