Eluru: A young couple reportedly died after jumping from a bridge into the Godavari River in Chinchinada of Yelamanchili mandal on Thursday night, leaving their three-year-old child alone on the bridge.
The deceased were identified as Dodda Venkata Sai Krishna and his wife Sirisha, residents of Velpur in Tanuku mandal.
Child found alone on bridge
According to reports, the couple had arrived at Chinchinada bridge on a motorcycle at night. After receiving information about a young child found alone on the bridge, police reached the spot and took the child into their care.
The couple was reportedly married six years ago and had a three-year-old child.
Financial difficulties reported
Sai Krishna, who worked as a driver in Hyderabad, had reportedly been facing financial difficulties and debt. He had moved to a relative’s house in Bhimavaram around two months ago.
Initial reports have suggested that financial problems may have been behind the couple’s decision.
An audio recording reportedly made by Sai Krishna has also emerged. In the recording, he is said to have referred to debt and financial pressure and stated that no one was responsible for their deaths.
Search continues in Godavari
Following the incident, police registered a case and began investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
A search operation has also been launched in the Godavari River to trace the couple.
Meanwhile, the three-year-old child has been taken into police care as officials continue their investigation into the incident.
