A court has directed authorities to monitor the health of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk on a daily basis as his hunger strike continues, observing that the life of every citizen is precious and deserves protection.
The direction comes amid growing concern over Wangchuk’s deteriorating health after he reportedly lost more than nine kilograms since beginning his indefinite fast.

During the hearing, the court emphasised that safeguarding the life and health of every citizen is a constitutional responsibility. It ordered regular medical monitoring to ensure Wangchuk receives appropriate care while continuing his protest.
The Centre informed the court that it would intervene if doctors recommend medical action based on his condition.
