In a shocking incident that highlights Bihar’s crumbling law and order situation, five armed assailants stormed Patna’s Paras Hospital, entered a patient’s room, and shot him multiple times before escaping. The entire act was caught on CCTV, showing the killers calmly pulling out their guns, entering the cabin, and fleeing.
The victim, Chandan Mishra, a notorious gangster with several murder cases, was out on parole for medical treatment. He was undergoing care at Paras Hospital when he was gunned down by suspected members of a rival gang. Mishra later succumbed to his injuries.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikay Sharma, efforts are underway to identify the attackers, believed to be part of the Chandan Sheru gang. Authorities are also probing the role of the hospital’s private security staff, suspecting possible collusion.
This high-profile murder has once again raised alarms about increasing violence in Bihar, with several prominent figures—businessman Gopal Khemka, BJP leader Surendra Kewat, and lawyer Jitendra Mahato—killed recently.
Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav slammed the Nitish Kumar government, questioning whether anyone is safe in Bihar anymore, drawing comparisons to pre-2005 lawlessness.
Deputy CM Vijay Sinha called the killing “unfortunate” and promised strict action. DGP Vinay Kumar claimed long-term crime statistics have improved but admitted the breach at the hospital is deeply troubling.
The case is under intensive investigation.
