Raipur: In a significant development, the Pujarikanker village market in Bijapur district of Bastar, which had been shut for 20 years due to Maoist influence, has reopened following the establishment of a new CRPF forward camp in February.
The 196th battalion of CRPF set up the security camp in the region, which was previously a Maoist stronghold. For years, locals had to walk 20 km to Usur market for daily essentials. Now, the revived weekly market is set to attract hundreds of visitors from neighboring villages like Bhimaram, Utlapalli, Tamelbatti, Kasturipada, Gunjeparti, Rengalpara, and Bangalpada.
🔹 Key Developments:
✅ Market Revival: Villagers can now access essential goods locally.
✅ Road Construction: The camp will provide security for a road linking Bijapur with Usur & Pamed, improving connectivity.
✅ Enhanced Security: The CRPF aims to make life easier for thousands of villagers by ensuring safety and development.
The Pujarikanker region, bordering Andhra Pradesh, has long been a Maoist stronghold, with dense forests used as training camps, meeting hubs, and storage for weapons and rations. However, with increasing security presence and infrastructural development, the region is seeing a new dawn of hope.
