Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Traffic Police on Friday issued a situation report and advisory after a night of persistent moderate to heavy rainfall that lashed several parts of the city. Authorities have cautioned that similar weather conditions are likely to continue through the day as the cyclone reaches its peak impact, with a yellow to orange alert in place.
Advisory for organizations and commuters
In its advisory, the police urged organisations to consider work-from-home arrangements for employees to ensure safety, minimise traffic congestion, and keep emergency services unhindered.
The advisory also appealed to commuters to plan their travel carefully, keeping in mind the possibility of waterlogging, slow-moving traffic, and congestion in several parts of the city.
Disaster preparedness
According to officials, the Traffic Control Room is closely monitoring the situation, while Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams are on standby for rapid deployment in case of emergencies.
Police further asked citizens and organisations to keep track of official weather updates and to remain cautious while travelling during the heavy rains.
Public urged to stay alert
With rain expected to persist through the day, authorities emphasised the importance of public cooperation in avoiding non-essential travel, especially in vulnerable and waterlogging-prone areas. Citizens have also been asked to report emergencies promptly for swift assistance.
Conclusion
As Hyderabad braces for the peak effect of the cyclone, the city’s traffic police and disaster response teams have geared up for swift action, while urging the public to take necessary precautions and follow advisories to ensure safety.
