Chennai: Several parts of the country have been experiencing unexpected showers over the past few days. Now, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of cyclonic rains in the next 48 hours in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The IMD, in its notification, has stated that cyclonic storms are likely to intensify between April 27 and 29. They have also cautioned of the wind hitting speeds of anywhere between 60 to 100 kmph on April 27 and 28.
It has also said that due to low pressure area and intensification of cyclonic winds, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected across the Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coastal areas in the 48 hours. Heavy downpour along with lightning and thunderstorms are also expected in isolated areas.
