A 24-year-old daily wage labourer lost his life in a hit-and-run accident near Brojo Warehouse on Khera Khurampur Road on Tuesday evening.
The deceased, identified as Pramod, a resident of Ward No. 13, was riding pillion on a motorcycle driven by Manish, a momo vendor. The two were reportedly on their way to deliver food to Khera Khurampur village when the accident occurred around 6.30 pm.
According to a complaint lodged by Pramod’s brother, Pawan, an unidentified vehicle travelling from the opposite direction rammed into their motorcycle at high speed and fled the spot immediately after the collision.

Following the crash, Pramod was rushed to the government hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him brought dead. Manish sustained injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Kherki Daula for treatment.
Police have registered a First Information Report at Farukhnagar Police Station under Sections 106 (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash driving) and 125(A) (act endangering life or personal safety) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Search underway for absconding driver
Investigating officers stated that efforts are underway to identify the offending vehicle and trace the driver responsible for the incident. CCTV footage from nearby establishments is being examined as part of the probe.
The tragic accident has once again highlighted concerns over speeding and road safety on semi-urban stretches, particularly during evening hours.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations to prevent such fatal mishaps.
