A Class 12 Dalit student in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, was brutally beaten by eight teachers with sticks and subjected to casteist slurs over his haircut. The 17-year-old suffered head wounds requiring stitches and fractures in both hands. The attack occurred on January 25, and the teachers—belonging to another caste—were suspended immediately.

Initially, the victim’s parents were pressured into a compromise but later filed an FIR due to repeated threats. The teachers even attempted to prevent the student from appearing in his UP board exams. The police registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the SC/ST Act on March 5.

Saraswati Vidya Mandir’s principal stated that such behavior would not be tolerated, and the school is cooperating with the police. The student’s mother, Maya Rani, revealed that her son was bedridden for a month due to trauma and injuries. She insisted on the arrest of the accused, stating that they continued to intimidate her son during his exams.
