A Danish former intern has delighted social media users after sharing how living in Bengaluru transformed his relationship with spicy Indian food.

Peter Kjærgaard Christensen, who completed an internship at the Consulate General of Denmark in the city, featured in a light-hearted LinkedIn video posted by Innovation Centre Denmark Bangalore. The clip humorously captures his six-month culinary journey.

From overwhelmed to “extra spicy”

In the video, Christensen re-enacts his first encounter with the iconic masala dosa. Initially, he appears overwhelmed by the spice of the crisp dosa, potato filling and chutneys, reacting cautiously to the bold flavours.

Six months later, however, the transformation is evident. Confident and composed, he is seen ordering, “One ghee pudi masala dosa. Make it extra spicy.”

The video also highlights his growing comfort with local customs. At first, he struggles to eat the dosa with a knife and fork. Later, he confidently uses his hands, embracing the traditional way of enjoying the dish.

Social media reacts warmly

The clip, captioned “What six months in Bangalore does to a Dane!”, quickly drew amused reactions. Users praised his adaptation, with many joking that he had officially passed Bengaluru’s “spice test”.

Some shared similar experiences of foreigners gradually embracing Indian cuisine, while others described the transformation as both relatable and wholesome.

The popular South Indian dish, Masala dosa, is known for its rich flavours and varying spice levels. For many newcomers, adjusting to the heat can be challenging.

Christensen’s journey reflects how immersion in local culture often reshapes tastes, habits and comfort levels — one spicy bite at a time.
